10 Summer Reading Books
While laying outside in the sun during the summertime, most of us tend to spend that free time on social media. It's just the go-to for us millennials nowadays, or as we would also call "the norm". But how about we spend less time falling down the rabbit hole of Instagram and instead falling down the rabbit hole of a good book? I hope my fellow readers got that reference!
Nowadays as adults, it can be hard to make reading during our free time a priority with our busy adult schedules (ugh). I love books, but I have a tough time trying to get some reading in. And even if I do have the time, I instead get caught up on the latest Tweets trending the Internet. Lately; however, I've been disciplining myself more and making sure I have enough time to get caught up in reading. It really is a great feeling to put down the phone and read an exciting fairy tale that takes you away from reality for a few hours!
With that being said, here are my top ten book recommendations for this summer!
1.) "Live Fearless: A Call to Power, Passion, and Purpose" by Sadie Robertson
Y'all, this book is amazing. I'm not even halfway done reading it but it's already one of my favorite books! This is perfect for Christian college-aged and teen girls struggling with fear, insecurities, and anxiety. Sadie Robertson is a true inspiration and her empowering words should encourage everyone to overcome their biggest fears through the love of Jesus. I say in a world full of Kardashians, be a Sadie!
2.) "Creative Visualization" by Shakti Gawain
It's no secret that I'm a very spiritual believer. I love all things that have to do with God, the law of attraction, manifesting, visualization, and anything that has to do with creating life out of thoughts. This book is so amazing and empowering. I've already made mediating a part of my daily routine, but now I try to do a quick manifestation meditation at least once a day. It's so helpful and I feel even closer to achieving my goals that I send out to the universe!
3.) "Uninvited" by Lysa Terkeurst
You guys, this book is amazing! I'm not even halfway done reading it but it's already one of my top favorite books ever, along with the Harry Potter series of course. Lysa TerKeurst has a quirky sense of humor, meaningful tips on how to "live loved", and reminds us all that no one is a perfect human being except for Jesus. I highly recommend this book, it's so good that I might write a full blog post based on it later on!
4.) "Wild and Free" by Jess Conolly & Hayley Morgan
I saw this on one of my friend's Instagram story which she was reading on the beach. I've been trying to read more Christian self-confidence guide books for girls, so this looks like it's going to be a good one for me!
5.) "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett
I've seen the movie and it's one of my top favorites, but shockingly I've never read the book. Now this summer I have the opportunity, and I can't wait to do so!
6.) "The Bucket List" by Georgia Clark
The title of this book captures my attention. I know you're not supposed to judge a book by a cover, but it definitely sounds intriguing in this case!
7.) "Fangirl" by Rainbow Rowell
I read this for a summer project in high school and I still really enjoy it. It's great for any girl starting college, especially if you want to major in English or creative writing!
8.) "Crazy Rich Asians" by Kevin Kwan
This book is getting so much praise with the film adaption coming out later this summer, so it's definitely on my reading list!
9.) "Beautiful Disaster" by Jamie McGuire
This book has been on my must-read list for a long time now, so it's about time that I actually start reading it. One of my friends said that I would like this since I like both Harry Potter and romance, so it's the perfect combination for me!
10.) "Little House in the Big Woods" by Laura Ingalls Wilder
Why not throw in a classic you probably already read in elementary school? I loved these books as a kid. My mom has a sign in our home that says "Home is the nicest word there is", and it truly is!
