4 Ways To Be Intentional With Jesus for Harvest Season

My favorite season is less than three weeks away!

Some people including myself call this time of year fall or autumn, but I think another term that I don’t hear often and love is “harvest season”. According to Oxford Languages, the definition of harvest is “the process or period of gathering in crops.” The main reason I love it is because it is used quite frequently in the Bible, and can be described as “the proper time for business”. The term reminds me of Luke 10:2 and Galatians 6:9, both which focus on harvesting as doing good and sharing the gospel with people who desperately need it- which is everyone! I also think of when Ruth was working in the barley harvest before Boaz found her and redeemed her, which created generations leading up to Jesus!

There’s so many more verses and Biblical stories I could share regarding harvesting, but I thought I would use this blog post to share some simple yet intentional ways to focus on Jesus this fall if anyone’s looking for some practical steps!

1.) Abide and pumpkin spice 🎃☕️

If you want a fun idea for this, go to your favorite local coffeeshop and order a pumpkin spice latte (or some other cozy drink that you prefer if you’re not into pumpkin flavors!). Once you do so, feel free to take a stroll in a nearby setting with a beautiful foliage and pray to the Lord or have a simple conversation with Him. Whatever you choose to do, He’ll just be happy to spend one-on-one time with you!

2.) Create a cozy, safe space for quiet time

Coziness and comfort just make quiet time with Jesus so much sweeter. Going on an outdoor stroll with Him is very special, and being indoors during cozy season is just as special! From sitting on your bed or couch with a heating pad to the front/back porch with a blanket, nothing hits more than watching the leaves fall and smelling the crisp air while reading the Word!

3.) Write down some prayer requests for the next three months

I always find journaling and writing down prayer requests help me to intimately connect with God. This is the perfect opportunity to write down prayer requests or letters of gratitude to Him and watch how He moves the next few months!

4.) Embrace change 🍂

One thing that about autumn really stands out to me is the reminder of how beautiful change can be. It’s bittersweet when the end of summer comes, but the beauty of leaves falling off trees and seeing the world covered in earthy tones makes it worth it. As life changes and we get older, Jesus is never-changing and makes all things new. Just as Isaiah 40:8 says, “The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the Word of our God stands forever.”

What’s one way or more you would like to more intentional about this fall? Comment below and I’ll be praying for you as we head into this new season! Happy *almost* harvest! 🍁
